13 years of hosting Memorable events
The Officers Mess is a jewel perfectly positioned on the clifftop at Narrow Neck Beach. Since 2012, our family-owned business, run by Warren and Fiona, has been dedicated to making your event as special as our clifftop views. Manaakitanga is at the heart of everything we do at Fort Takapuna.
In 2013, we extensively renovated this heritage building, bringing it back to life with a flexible layout that preserves its historic character.
We have built a strong reputation for culinary excellence, exceptional service and genuine care for our guests. With over 40 years’ experience as an Executive Chef in leading hotels across New Zealand and internationally, Warren brings a wealth of culinary expertise to the venue. Fiona and Sam run our venue and events and pride themselves on their personal approach, taking the time to get to know you and ensuring your special event exceeds expectations.

Say YES at the Mess. Our experienced team is ready to coordinate your wedding day to ensure everything runs smoothly and exceeds your expectations. We are prompt with communication and prioritize quick and timely responses throughout the planning process.
Our chefs and their cuisine is award winning. We will work with you to craft our menus to yours and your guests delight. We offer a wide selection of fabulous wines, champagne, beer and spirits. We also offer a BYO option if you prefer.
At The Officers Mess you are welcome to bring in your own vendors to reflect your personal style. The venue is a white blank canvas filled with natural light ready for you to put your stamp on it.

Our versatile conference spaces can accommodate up to 120 guests, with adaptable indoor and outdoor areas to suit your event. Available for bookings Monday to Friday, our conference package includes tables and chairs, a surround sound system and Wi-Fi to ensure your event runs seamlessly. To complete the experience, we’ll work with you to create a menu tailored to your event, dietary requirements and preferences,
